2006 Legend
The number in front of the horse's name, is its registration number.
( ) The number in the round brackets represents the total number of offspring that the particular stallion sired. These numbers are current as of October 20, 2000.
[ / ] The first number in the square bracket is the number of male offspring which were registered as stallions (eg does not include male offspring registered as geldings). The second number (after the slash) in the square brackets represents male offspring standing at stud (determined by whether they have offspring registered to them or who are known to be standing at stud).
Grey text Denotes a stallion which has expired, been gelded or is no longer at stud.
The black Bar Denotes a stallion which has either expired or been gelded and which has left either no male offspring whatsoever, or else no male offspring at stud, with which to carry on the line. In effect, this particular branch of the male line has now died out.

Statistics
(as of Oct 2000 - not updated for 2006)

General Information

There are a total of 496 horses registered to the Becancour line. This makes up 11% of the entire Canadian Horse breed.

At this time, there are only about 20 stallions from the Becancour line left. 9 are from Minon, and 12 from Primo. Several of the male offspring from these stallions have never been used at stud and so have no offspring. Given this, the Becancour line is at significant risk of becoming lost.

Number Distribution

-Ste Anne Marquis de Becancour produced 4 stallion offspring, all of which went to stud, however of these there are only two branches of the Becancour line which currently have any male offspring left at stud. LG Jovial and Nelson de L'Isle Verte, produced no male offspring so these male lines have ceased.La Gorgendiere Minon

-The two sons of Ste Anne Marquis de Becancour whose sire lines continue are LG Minon, and LG Primo.

-LG Minon was the most prolific, siring 34 offspring including 14 sons, 7 of which went on to stud. In total, LG Minon, his sons and their offspring produced 278 horses, or 56% of those registered to the Becancour line.

-Of the 7 sons at stud, two produced most of the offspring: LG Baron 2ieme who with his own 7 offspring and the progeny of his two sons, LG Baladin and Rieucafol Baron Eno, sired 55% of the LG Minon horses.

-30% (153 horses) of the Becancour line are descendants of LG Minon's son, LG Baron 2ieme. Of this number, 54% (83 horses) descended from LG Baron 2ieme's son LG Baladin and his offspring.

-Another 41% (63 horses) are from LG Baron 2ieme'sother son Rieucafol Baron Eno and his descendants.

Melville Elegant Velour

-At present there are only two stallions remaining from LG Baron 2ieme line: Melville Elegant Velour, and Leblanc Elegant Marco Pat. A third son, Rieucafol Baron Eno, died in Dec 2000. Each of these stallions have only one or two sons, and most of these sons have no male offspring (and none at stud).LeBlanc Elegant Marco Pat

-

-LG Minon's other son at stud, Windsor Sandy, his only son at stud (Dany Bern Sandy Brandy), and their progeny, in turn sired 27% of the LG Minon horses. The 7 offspring by Windsor Sandy and the additional 69 from his progeny make up 16% of the entire Becancour line. There is only one stallion left from the Windsor Sandy branch of the bloodline: Colline Brandy Magic. Although he has some male offspring, there are none currently at stud.

-None of LG Minon's other sons, LG Dolent, LG Douvain, Du Brule Royal, Windsor Major, Windsor Dolin, produced any male offspring so these male branches of the Becancour line were lost.

-LG Primo sired 34 offspring, which included only 3 sons, all of which went on to stud. In total, with the progeny of LG Primo, 198 horses were registered to this line, making up 40% of the Becancour line.

-The most prolific son of Primo, Beauvail Primo Vagabond and his offspring sired 68% of the Primo line horses. Vagabond has several sons and grandsons standing at stud now.

-LG Primo's sons Beauvail Primo Condor, and Les Apalaches Primo Balzan produced no male offspring at stud so these male branches of the Becancour line were lost.
