Chantecler Chicken Sales

Due to the rarity of these chickens in western Canada, we get a tremendous number of inquiries into them.  First and foremost, this is a rare heritage breed and as such we are doing our best to try to help preserve it.  We do at times have a limited number for sale, however we definitely do not sell them exclusively for eating.  If it is strictly meat birds that you are looking for, we suggest that you contact the large scale hatcheries to purchase meat birds bred in large numbers for that specific purpose.

The past couple of years have found us inundated with requests for our Chanteclers! 

In the past, we only sold hatching eggs as we were not set up to hatch out chicks.  However it soon became clear that that we would be unable to fulfill the number of eggs that had been requested. Also due to the varying circumstances under which the eggs that we sold were hatched, we typically found the hatch rates of our sold eggs, to be much less than that of our own eggs hatched here. It also become clear to us that more people prefer chicks than hatching eggs anyhow.   So we have decided not to sell hatching eggs anymore, and instead are concentrating our efforts on hatching out and selling our chicks so that more people could have the opportunity of having some of these wonderful chickens.

 

We will only be producing a small number of these chicks (both White and Partridge) each year.   Our chicks will only be sold as "straight run" (eg unsexed), so one can expect an approximate ratio of half male and half female chicks.

The White and Partridge birds are in essence different breeds, so in the event that you are contemplating getting both types, we request that they be housed completely separately so that they do not intermix as this will only occur to the detriment of both breeds.

We will be putting on hatches in April, May and June.

In order to get on our chick waitlist, please contact us first via email to to check regarding our availability.  Once chick availability is confirmed with us via email, we request that you complete our order form. 

Please note that at the time of chick reservation, we will require a 50% non-refundable down deposit on the chicks ordered.  Unfortunately we have had to implement this, due to numerous last minute cancellations and late pick ups that occurred last year.

  Please note:  we do not ship - for farm pick up only. No exceptions.
