You have a great history page on this breed. I have a team of Canadians that I
use in my wedding carriage business. They are rock solid, willing and nothing
phases them, trains, buses, bikes, trucks, etc. I believe I may have one of the
few "working" teams around. I can tell you they are worth their weight in gold,
and have done about 40 weddings in the last two years, along with 5 funerals and
various other events. Sorry, not much into the show end of things, no real money
in that. Do you mind if I link to your history page from my site? Millar Nicol,

Lovely horses! They have such an awesome presence about them... gorgeous. I've
got a coming 3 yr old TB dark bay mare, huge full mane, nice movement, best
temperament I've ever seen in a horse that would be a lovely cross with one of
these guys. She's got a bit of soreness from the track, but the xrays check out
and she just needs some time off. I'd be willing to part with her to a good

amazing. Drop me a line if you're interested. Thanks! Kelly, Langley, BC

Yvonne and Jim We came to see your horses in spring of last year (in our
Champagne Audi wagon) We just bought our 6 acre property in Port Alberni and
will be starting to seriously look at purchasing our first (and second) Canadian
soon The 3 new foals look gorgeous on the site As a novice horse person, I have
been advised to start with an experienced horse who can look after me and teach
me rather than a baby that needs my assistance. I am looking to learn for trail
riding and for carriage driving Robin would like a younger horse she can teach
and is very interested in dressage and jumping, although Robin will have to
accompany me on the trails too. Do you know anyone who may have such an animal?
We would probably house the horses on the Lower mainland for most of the time so
we can be with them while we are still working in Vancouver I hope all is well
with both of you Say Hi to the dogs. Steve Forrest, Vancouver BC

Hello! I really enjoyed reading your sight...lots of info! Last year I bought,
sight unseen, a 2 year old, Grulla mare, Canadian/Quarter horse cross, from a
friend in Alberta. He delivered her to me on his way to South Carolina, where he
was delivering 2 other horses. We did not know at the time that she was pregnant
from one of his 2 year old pure bred stallions. She gave birth to a beautiful
grulla colt in May of this year. My mare is one of the calmest horses I have
ever seen...nothing spooks her. She is also the biggest slowpoke and in no hurry
to go anywhere...good for kids!!! I love her alot and would have a very hard
time selling her. Her baby is also the most gentle and loveable little guy. He
has very nice action at a trot and will be quite the looker when he's older! He
was recently gelded and recovered quite quickly!! Maybe you would know the
breeder? .Shane Juuti from West Gimlet Farm in Rimley, Alberta. Both him and
his wife are some of the nicest horse people around. They certainly know their
horses. They have some beautiful pure and crossbred ones. Well if you would like
to see any pictures of my "Canadians" please email me! :). Cindy Simula,

Hi; Thank-you for your very informative web site. There is no longer any doubt
that the little bay that Mom bought in about 1942 from the reserve near North
Battleford Sask. was a Canadian Horse. He taught six kids, (and a few know it
all adults) about horses. He finally passed on at the age of 35/36 years. The
grandchildren even had their first horse rides on him. A book could be written
about him, a very intelligent, amazing horse, to the end. Don Tobin, Parksville

Yvonne & Jim, you have the better site I know about Canadians Horses, there's so
much information on it(and beautiful pictures). I continue some research about
bloodlines. This is so interesting when I knew how it work, its captivating.
Yours horses are magnificent. I look at your site regularly. I have Bernier's
book and Mackey Beattie's too. Now I enjoy reading the book of Larry Scanlan. I
love to learn about this breed, have stories and comments and hope someday have
my own Canadian Horse...When you talked about some lines as a significant risk
to be lost, it gives me chills cause those lines have so much to give, they are
good. I don’t know much about horses, I mean cause I read yes but I'm not used
to be around, I have a certain fear when I'm close by but I love horses so much
and hope to change that. I would love to go see in real what I see on your site
one day. Thanks to build this site, you did a fantastic job and I really
appreciate it. I can't wait to see the next update :) thanks again Annie.

I used to ride a Canadian breed over 30 years ago in Quebec. I loved him so
much. His name was Mr. Canada and his short name was Mighty. I rode in many
horseshows with him and won many ribbons and trophys. When I was a kid I even
competed against Ian Miller and Michel Vaillancourt and beat them. It was great.
But I quit in 1972 after my father sold my Mighty. I rode in hunter classes,
open jumping and fox hunts. These horses are very gentle, loving and he was my
best friend then. Ronnie, New York (upstate)

I just got a one year old Canadian horse called Kelsey so I was looking on the
internet to learn more about them. I just love this website. I think it's the
coolest of all. I didn't even know that the Canadian horse existed but then I
got a one year old Canadian horse. WOW they learn so fast! When I got my horse
she knew nothing at all so we brought her to a man that would train her and in a
week he could longe her and she listened to him so well. A week after that he
had the saddle and bridle on her. Now she has been there for 3 weeks and I can
ride her. Not for to long because she too young and only at the walk, but it's
still fun. And boy is she friendly. She follows me everywhere I go in the
paddock. The man where she is has his muck pail in the paddock and when he goes
to dump out the muck, if he turns his back around she tries to get in the wheel
barrel. Loronso{the man}has been training horses for like 30 years and he said
he never saw a horse that friendly{but it has the firs time he trained a
Canadian}. If anyone reading this letter has never seen a real Canadian horse,
go to the closest Canadian horse farm to your house. Pet them, watch them horse
around, and if you can ride one, do so. I can almost guarantee you’ll fall in
love with them. I know I did! P.S.Sorry if you have a hard time reading some
words. Im just not good in english. Sara, New Brunswick

I own a canadian and I love him so much. I constantly look for anything to do
with canadian horses. Maybe one day I would like to post his picture on the net
just to show him off. Thanks for your wonderful site! Tanya Humphreys.

Hi Yvonne. Saw your message on Canadian Horse e-group & took a visit. Your
website is very well put together, haven't checked it all out yet, but enjoyed
what I've seen so far. Look forward to your messages on the list as well. We
still have not found our 1st Canadian yet, but have put the word out, what we
want, so hopefully we'll have our first Canadian soon, and will REALLY start to
understand why you are all so taken with this fantastic breed. Best regards,
Melody (& Tommy) Robichaud, Bancroft ON

I first encountered a Canadian horse on a working cattle ranch in Taos, New
Mexico. His conformation and manners stunned me, and I had to learn more about
them. Until this moment I had never even known that this breed existed, and
hopefully I'll encounter one again someday. This is a beautiful web-site, and it
is encouraging to see that so many people are interested in them. Maureen Ryan.

I just wanted to say I love your sight and up until about 2 weeks ago I had no
idea about the back ground of the Canadian, and I think its great what you’re
doing. I run my own riding school and we are leasing 3 of our schooling horses,
one was sent to us and we call him Buddy. Now I know he is at least 80%
Canadian and from the moment I laid eyes on him I think I fell in love. Never in
my encounters with any type of horse in this industry have I found one like my
Bud. Now I have only known this horse for 3 months but the more time I spend
with him the more I love him. He would sit in my lap if I let him. He will
stand their hugging me for ever, and I have never seen a horse get so attached
to people and other horses in my life. The only problem with that is we had our
first show last weekend and Bud and his friend were in the same classes and they
rode side by side the entire time and we could not get them seperated, which
wasn’t exactly what we wanted, but we did end up the center of attention and
many people were quite taken with Bud. We had a lot of questions about him. I
have a question, maybe you can help. We have a major problem with Bud talking
way too much. Every one thought he was a stud. He yelled the entire day. Is
this typical of Canadian geldings or is it maybe he was gelded a little later on
in life? He’s around 9 years old. Please email me and let me know if all of
this is normal behavior for this breed. Thankyou. Daina Atkinson. Port Hope,
ON.

I just wanted to say I found your site wonderful. This past June I started
riding a 4 y/o Canadian/Standardbred cross. While he is more nervous then the
horses you described here, I have to say he has a wonderful mind and once he has
confidence in a person he'll trust you forever. I absolutely love them (we have
his half brother at our barn too, who seems to have the calmness you describe as
a characteristic of the breed). Everyone who has contact with these 2 horses are
very impressed and I think the breed will become more and more popular in the
future. Good luck with your breeding!!! Christine. AB.
