Breeding information

Pulled out of retirement for 2005, Zipper has made quite the name for himself!
He won champion Canadian stallion and overall Champion Canadian Horse at both the Interior BC Canadian Horse Show and the Interior Provincial Exhibition.   What is even more remarkable, is that despite not being ridden for the past four years due to a lack of time on our part, we pulled him of of the field only 10 days before the show, rode him few times and then took him to the BC Interior Canadian Horse Show where he proceeded to place in almost every under saddle class that he was shown in.   He placed third overall in the dressage division of the show.

Zipper not only does well at Canadian breed shows -  he can hold his own at open shows as well.  He won best "Sport Horse type" stallion, and Champion "Sport Horse Type" overall, at the Interior Provincial Exhibition.  Not only that, he also made his dressage "debut" at the Fall Salmon Arm Dressage show, winning the entire introductory dressage division with Jim riding.

Zipper is a very quiet, gentle and sensitive stallion.  He always tries very hard to please, and is a lovely horse to work around.

We learned exactly how calm and sensible Zipper was, when we took him to be a "breed demo" horse at the 2005
Interior Provincial Exhibition.  Despite never having been exposed to a situation like this before, Zipper took it all in stride.  He was a perfect gentleman, despite having mares in raging heat stabled all around him.  He handled the huge crowds, midway, rodeo, noisy equipment, music etc with complete confidence and calm.

At the fair, all of the Canadian Horse owners present did a breed demo on the history of the Canadian Horse.  We were all waiting outside the arena for the demo to start, Jim on Zipper dressed in full Calvary regalia.  Suddenly, a sheep with a border collie in hot pursuit, came streaking out of the arena and around the corner directly towards our group.  Before anyone could react, the two made a beeline straight for Zipper and Jim, and ran right under Zipper's belly!  Other than looking a bit surprised,  "Zippy" didn't move an inch.  What a guy!

Zipper is athletic, moves beautifully, and has a particularly spectacular extended trot.   He consistently passes on his good nature, athleticism, nice movement, and exceptional bone to his foals.  He makes excellent dressage or "sport horse" type crosses with Canadian mares as well as with mares of other breeds.

And best of all, under all that black skin is a big soft marshmallow!
